How long are online appointments, and how do they work?
Initial appointments are usually 45-60 minutes long, and follow up appointments are 30-45 minutes. We’ll make arrangements comfortably in advance of the scheduled time. During these appointments, we’ll discuss your symptoms, your general function, and specific questions that might help me to help you start/continue to make progress and to get better. You’ll be able to ask questions and receive help depending on what your concerns are.
After I schedule my appointment, what happens next?
Once you’re scheduled, you will receive SMS and email confirmations. A few days before your scheduled appointment, you’ll receive an email with instructions on how to login to your video call, and a consent form to sign and return before your appointment. If you don’t get an email by two days before your appointment, please contact me so that I can send you your link to the call.
What equipment do I need?
You’ll need a good internet connection, and a smartphone, tablet, or computer with video capabilities. Plugging directly into your modem or router usually gives the fastest connection speed; otherwise if using a WiFi connection, get as close as possible to the box so we minimize the risk of having interruptions during our video call. It also helps to close any unnecessary apps since these can slow down your device, too.. If you prefer doing a telephone call instead, please contact me to let me know.
What should I wear?
Good news! You can stay in your pajamas or sweats!
Do you do a physical examination during our video call?
Online sessions are partly conversation, and partly observation. We’ll discuss your symptoms as well as specific questions about bladder, bowel, and sexual function. I’ll ask about your daily routine and workout routine. I may ask you to demonstrate some movements so that I can see where movement in your body is limited, and so that you can point to the area(s) where you’re having problems. And while I won’t be able to do any hands-on assessment or treatment, I’ll be able to help you start/continue to make progress and to get better.
What if I have technical problems during the online session?
Contact me directly, with a description of the problem. A phone call is preferable since it’ll allow us to continue the session.
Does my insurance cover the cost of this?
Most insurances cover telehealth visits. Please visit the Payment page for more details.
Do I need to take notes of what we discuss during the session?
You can if you want to, but I’ll be emailing you following your session. This email will review what we discussed, and list any recommendations that were made.
